A fully initiated, lifelong sorority member who is active at the collegiate level
Alumni/alumnus
Initiated member(s) who is no longer in college but is a lifetime member of the organization.
Bid
An invitation to join a sorority.
continuous open bidding (cob)
The period in which a sorority that has not met the Campus Total is able to recruit members.
Legacy
A daughter, sister, or granddaughter of an initiated member of a sorority. Each NPC member organization has its own definition of and invitation policies regarding legacies.
mraba
The binding agreement signed by a potential new member (PNM) following the final preference event she attends during recruitment. More information on this can be found in the PNM Booklet.
national panhellenic conference
The umbrella organization for 26 inter/national sororities. Each campus has a College Panhellenic that mirrors this umbrella group.
new member
A person who has accepted a bid to join a Panhellenic sorority.
party
An event that is part of a round. Each round is made up of multiple parties.
potential new member (pnm)
Any woman who is eligible to participate in the recruitment process.
preference
The final round of recruitment in which chapters share a ritual-based ceremony with PNMs.
primary recruitment
The Panhellenic process through which eligible individuals become members of sororities.
Quinnipiac panhellenic council
The College Panhellenic is made up of eight women on the Executive Board and has Delegate representation from all active chapters on campus.
rho gamma
A Panhellenic representative who is available to guide women through the recruitment process and answer questions. Every PNM will be assigned a Rho Gamma once they've completed their Recruitment Registration!
round
Used to describe one full day of recruitment. Example: Round 1 (Sisterhood), Round 2 (Philanthropy), Round 3 (Preference)
values-based recruitment
A type of recruitment process that focuses on the PNMs core values and how well they align or correlate with each chapter. It also focuses on conversations between chapter members and potential new members about organizational values and member organizations
